StorHub recycles old materials to support Angel Hearts

On Friday 17th February 2023, members of the StorHub team came together to lend our support to Angel Hearts, a charitable organisation that supports bereaved families grieving the loss of their babies. Joining six Angel Heart volunteers, 14 StorHub staff gathered to recycle old umbrellas and repurpose them into delivery bags and key chains to distribute to those in need.

Angel Hearts was created to provide services and practical items for parents in difficult circumstances by upcycling unused or unneeded fabric goods such as wedding gowns into baby gowns, bonnets, and blankets, as well as loom blankets and crocheted booties.

dismantled the old umbrellas from their metal frames and cut fabric patterns ready to be sewn into bags

Over the course of three hours, we carefully dismantled the old umbrellas from their metal frames and cut fabric patterns ready to be sewn into bags, as well as cute little booties that were to be attached to keychains.

Recycling products that may otherwise be thrown away to benefit recipients, the initiative was particularly poignant for us at StorHub as we focus on sustainability as part of our corporate values. We are always keen to participate in enterprises that have an eco-friendly element so that we can continue our pledge to give back to the community in an ethical and responsible way.

“We really enjoyed being part of this event; not only did we turn umbrellas that were no longer being used into something useful, but they were also specifically made for families that are in need of support and kindness during a tough time,” Sheryl Oh, StorHub volunteer.

We have been supporting Angel Hearts for nearly four years now, and we are dedicated to assisting their cause, as well as our other CSR commitments, to serve Singaporean residents.
